Dreams

Dreams
One theme that is repeated throughout The Alchemist, by Paulo Coelho, is dreams. Santiago had a dream of himself at the Pyramids, which lead him to travel across the land in search of his treasure. It was Santiago's dream the helped keep him going, so dreams played an important role. Someone in real life who had a dream was Martin Luther King Jr. He dreamed of one day living in a country where no one was kept as a slave. At that time, if you weren't from a family of white skin you were treated unfairly, as if you were very different. But Martin Luther King Jr. knew that they weren't different, that people should be able to live as they wish to. He turned his dream into a reality by taking action. One memorable part of what he did was his famous "I Have A Dream" speech. Over 200,000 people gathered to here him say what he had to say. Unfortunately, even though he did a tremendous job turning his dream into something possible to accomplish, he never did live to see the day where slaves were no more. We should all learn to follow our dreams -never give up, for if you do, you will never achieve your true destiny.
